Established in 1977, the Foreign Languages Department now is made up of 32 classes with 1072 students. There are altogether 34 academic teachers, among which are 7 associate professors, 14 lecturers and 13 assistants, and more than 1/3 hold the master’ degree. In addition, we have two distinguished guest professors, Prof. Ding Wangdao from Beijing Foreign Studies University and Prof. Wu Dingmin from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
The teaching staff is characterized by young age, strong potential and large load. Besides regular teaching practice, they are devoted to teaching research and scientific research. Since 2003, over 30 papers have got published in journals at national and provincial levels. More than 20 teaching and scientific research projects at college and province levels have got approved and implemented. There is also one provincial key curriculum constructed and 2 college-level key curricula under construction.
Over the past 30 years, we have kept advancing with the times, inspired by the managerial spirits of positivity, enterprise, innovation and pioneer and dedicated to the educational rationale of human-centered knowledge-morality education. In 2003, we began to offer a 4-year English program, which marks a new phase of leap-forward development for the specialty. All members of our department are determined to make with constant and vigorous efforts ever greater contributions to the evaluation and promotion of undergraduate education in our college.
巢湖学院外语系建于1977年，现有在校生1072人，分设32个班级。现有专任教师34 人，其中副教授7人，讲师14人,助教13人,并特邀北京外国语大学著名教授丁往道和南京航空航天大学吴鼎民先生为我系客座教授。返聘55岁以上的副教授2人， 其中36－54岁的教师8人，35岁以下的教师24人，具有硕士学位的教师13人（含在读）。
外语系教师具有年纪轻、潜力强、阵容整齐、工作量大等特点，他们在承担的教学工作同时还潜心教科研。自03年来，他们在国家、省级刊物上发表论文30余篇，参加省、院级教研立项6个，科研立项9个，系级教、科研立项6个；省级重点课程建设1个，建设中的院级重点课程建设2个。
三十年来，我们始终坚持积极进取、开拓创新的办学精神，树立教书育人、以人为本的教育理念，与时俱进，不断发展。2003年，我们正式申办了英语本科专业，也迎来了本专业跨越式发展的新阶段。外语系全体师生决心继续努力，求实奋进，为巢湖学院本科评建作出更大的贡献。
